A native of Maryland, Dr. Shields received his undergraduate degree from Samford University and his medical level at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2005.
